Normally, I believe that the punishment should fit the crime.
However, child molesters rarely can be successfully treated. So in this case, I believe that they should be removed from society permanently. The fact is that our children's safety is more important than some pervert's "right" to be released back into society after serving his sentence in prison.
If they could be treated, a lengthy sentence (as opposed to permanent removal from society) would be one thing. But since that's not the case, I see no point in allowing them to live with the rest of us at the expense of the safety of youths.
