Like most people, I'm involved in several different areas of the Internet, and one of them is Chatbots. They're a lot of fun to create, or just to chat with for amusement. You can create your own chatbot and host it for free at a site called Pandorabots. Once you acquire your bot, you can alter what it says when people talk to it. By viewing the Most Popular page, you can see what others are doing with their bots, and how creative you can be. Some bots will search the Internet for you, while others will listen to your problems and offer advice. Some just make you laugh. In addition to having my own chatbots, I have a ChatBot Toplist site where other botmasters promote their craft. If you're interested, curious, or just want to laugh, click on the banner. This is Very interesting i was just talking to your other affiliate Kim about bots , i no nothing about them but want to learn , i,m thinking 30 % of my Guests are Bots , i was not thinking that until kim told me about them . lol . QC There are all sorts of bot programs that serve different purposes and can perform a variety of tasks. The sort of bots I'm talking about, " Chatbots" don't have the ability to post at forums like this one, or to boost toplist ratings by repeatedly visiting a site to increase the count. Mostly, they respond to input from the visitor. Some are very advanced and have the ability to utilize search engines to locate an answer a question, such as, "What will the weather be today," or "How many planets in the Solar System... Who was Issac Newton... Find me a photo of crop circles..." things like that. However, the main purpose is conversation between humans and a form of Artificial Intelligence. Some pretend to be human and attempt to fool you, but most are not successful. Many specialize in topics or a particular audience such as men or women, medical issues, safety, religion, or matters of interest to school-age children. Some communicate in text, while others are a sort of talking head. Many compete in one or more contests where the chatbots are asked a series of questions designed to locate the bots with the best human-like responses. Below are several chatbots which I find the most intelligent and the most enjoyable to chat with. I hope you enjoy them. None are mine. ElbotLilithBearbotSylvieYuichan

I've been wanting to get into this for sometime now, but have been put-off because of my busy schedule. I've chatted to both your iEinstein, and Zog ones, and was impressed by the responses. I was wondering, Thunder, how long did it take you to get them that good?

I was wondering, Thunder, how long did it take you to get them that good? If you ask any of my bots, "When were you created?" they'll tell you the date they first went online. I've had them for something like four years now. The phrase "that good" is a bit subjective. Some people chat with them and call them every name you can think of related to being "stupid." It's a never ending process, like seeing a child grow up. It's a goal we never reach, but are always striving for. The main challenge is language. You can research facts to include in an answer, but because there are so many ways to ask the same question, always having a reply is the hard part. Do you have a bot yet? They're free at Pandorabots.

They're free at Pandorabots. Yeah, I began working on one not long after my previous post in this topic. Like you've just mentioned, I've been getting a lot of people chatting to it and trying to make it look like an idiot. They're just insulting it and using a lot of profane language. In fact, that's all I've had. Not one person has had a civilized conversation with it yet. It's only really got basic responses at the moment which were already there as I opted for the Dr.Wallace's ALICE on creation. It needs a lot of customization. I've been learning bits of AIML and have learned the basic things like "<pattern>", "<template" and "<category>". I haven't looked into the rest yet.

One of the features I like at Pandorabots is the Training Interface, where you really don't need to know anything about coding or tags, because it does all of the work for you. It makes it so easy, anyone can have a bot. All you do is substitute what you want the bot to say from what it says now. The tricky part is that some responses are linked, so changing one might change another. I'm guessing you've been to the A.I Nexus Forum. If you scout around, you'll find a section with advice for beginners, and one for known errors, called Pandorabots Corrections. That's a good place for a beginner to start making changes and getting their feet wet. But, I'm curious about the "bad" traffic you're receiving. How are people finding your bot? Where are you promoting it? I used to know a girl who complained about the quality of men she was meeting. One day I pointed out to her that the only place she ever went to look for companionship was at bars. I suggested that she get a puppy and sit on a bench outside of the library or the museum if she wanted to meet a different category of male. What's the URL for your bot? I'd like to have a chat, and then you can read the chatlog.

Sorry if I've given you a bit of work to catch up on. You certainly did that, lol. I'm glad you did, too. You pointed out some major errors that needed fixing; notably the ones about Prime Ministers and such. I've fixed most if not all of them. I'll also register on that forun you mentioned a bit later on. Thanks, Thunder.

Not all of them are important because they don't come up in conversation that much. Very few visitors ask for the names of the current leaders of countries, unless they want to see how easily they can stump your bot. It's probably best to address misspellings and code mistakes first, and current events last. If you come across any we haven't discovered yet, please post them in the Pandorabots Corrections board.
