You might wish to look at toplists as a way of promoting your site. There are toplists dedicated to Forums or BBS Posting sites and many devoted to music, musical instruments, lyrics, or even specific decades, like music of the 50s, 60s, 70s-80s, etc. All that's required is a return linking code that usually involves placing a button or short bit of text on your page so hits from your site to the toplist can be counted, which moves your listing up the ladder.
At the bottom of this page are several that might interest you... just click on any button.

You can go to any search engine, such as Google, and search terms like "music toplist" or "guitar toplist." There are also lots of "submit" sites like the one listed below that submit your url to batches of search engines. SUBMITYou'll want to have your meta tags showing the proper content and keywords. If you don't know what meta tags are, or how to create and place them, just search the term. There are even free sites that will make them for you. (search free meta tags generator) Several of the larger search engines won't accept submissions from mass submission sites, so you have to go to them and submit your listing one at a time. Here's where you can submit to: GOOGLEHere's where you can submit to: YAHOOGood luck with your new site.
